hopi pottery - $225 - (Inman, KS)
This pot is in excellent condition. Was purchased from Loretta Navasie. It measures approximately 6" high, 5" wide at largest point, opening is 2". Loretta Navasie (b. 1948 ), daughter of Joy Navasie, 2nd. Frog woman, and granddaughter of Paqua, 1st. Frog woman. Loretta is Hopi/ Tewa and is from the Parrot Clan. This pot was purchased at Christmas 2016. Loretta makes her pots by coiling the clay and fires it in sheep dung. She is a warm and caring person who takes pride in her art and heritage. We buy our pottery directly from the Hopi, no middle man and only want to help our friends out. We have spent many hours in Loretta's home, visiting and learning about what it takes to be a potter.
