Published by Julius Bien, NY, NY, 1878 The famous double elephant folio measuring 33" x 22" (closed) and bound in the original 3/4 leather and paper covered hardcovers. All 17 plates present as called for. First 3 pages were folded in a long time ago but retain a slight crease. Minor staining and foxing, along with assorted professional repairs to a few of the maps. A nice representation of this very elusive Geological Atlas with mostly colored plates. NOTE: This is the final one remaining of the 3 we purchased last year from a friend & Professional Geologist. It is the scarcest, in my opinion, as the original binding is intact. A rarity indeed!
