SATSUMA by B G & W (Bates, Gildea & Walker) Transferware Platter 21” - $422 - (Penn Valley, CA)

Provenance - acquired while living in Sri Lanka in 1999 at auction by then Anglican Bishop of Colombo to benefit an orphanage. It was indicated at the auction that the Satuma set, of which this platter was part, was acquired by the then Bishop's wife for a lunch for Queen Elizabeth during her visit to Sri Lanka in 1954. This platter is well used but has no chips or cracks.
