Offered for bids is this nice Kenwood TS-440S HF transceiver. This is part of an estate sale. It was in use until recently. This solid-state radio is by reputation a very capable and easy to use rig. All controls and indicators are on the front-panel. No clumsy menus to operate. I put it on the bench for testing and verified that it receives a calibrated 1uv reference signal well on all bands. The rig comes with an SSB mechanical filter. It has no internal tuner nor voice synthesizer option. The main photo shows this rig putting out full power on 20 meters. The meter shown in the photo is not included in this bid. A copy of the User’s Manual, power cord, and hand mic are included in the bid. Cosmetically, I’d rate this a 6 out of 10. There is some wear on the case. All controls and indicators on the front-panel appear to work as expected. Coverage is 160 through 10 meters including the WARC bands with 100 watts final amplifier stage (40W AM). Requires 13.8 VDC at 20.5 Amps. MC-43S hand mic included.
