~Antique 1900 Chinese Handpainted Pigskin Wedding Trunk Chest Courtesans Boating~ Up for auction here is an antique circa 1900 Chinese wedding trunk chest that is made from hand painted and hand stitched pigskin. The scene on the lid of the trunk shows Courtesans and a Royal Family member in scholarly pursuit, one practicing her calligraphy. The front depicts the ladies boating to a temple building much like they would have in the time of Empress Cixi when she would be at the Summer Palace outside of Beijing. The other sides show tree limbs. Super condition, the construction is still tight. Lined with black felt. Both handles intact and original lock included. Measures 28" long x 18" deep x 13" high.
