Up for your consideration is a vintage 1940 Stradolin Jr. Archtop mandolin with case. This item dates to September 24, 1940 according to the stamp on the inside of the body. This instrument is in fantastic shape considering it is 77 years old! There is some checking on the finish, and a few small dings on the body and around the edges (see photos for details,) but the instrument is structurally sound. No cracks in the wood, the neck is nice and straight, and the bridge is in good working order. Tuners are fully functional, and the action on this instrument is very low and comfortable. Stradolins were manufactured in the USA from the 1930's-50's. There doesn't seem to be a definitive place of manufacture, although most people who are familiar with these instruments seem to agree on New York City. The Stradolin Jr. features an A-style birch body, and rosewood fingerboard. Scale length of the instrument is 13.5". Width at the nut is 1.18", width at the 12th fret is 1.54". Action at the 12th fret is 2/64ths on the bass side, 2/64ths on the treble side. Frets are in great shape, no buzzing or dead spots anywhere along the neck. The case in great shape, all zippers are functional, and is free of any smoke, pet or basement smells. This item ships to the contiguous United States for $30.
