Description***UP FOR AUCTION*** Vintage Ansonia Sharon 8-day strike Walnut mantel Clock Dated 1882 by the Ansonia Clock Co., New York, Patented June 18, 1882 Comes with its original paper label inside, weight and 2 key. The paper label reads: "Prize Medal Awarded, Paris Exposition, 1878 - Eight Day Sharon Strike None genuine without A this trade mark - Ansonia Clock Co., New York, United States of America. The clock is about 17 inches tall by 11.5 inches wide with a classical design set off by a pillaster on either side . The glass cover opens so you can wind the clock, which also has a wooden back door with a ring for access to the weight and movement. The face is very intricately detailed gilt in nouveau styling with black lettering. The workings, weight and case are all original and have not been restored or worked on, and the clock works fine and has a charmingly beautiful strike. You can adjust the speed of the clock workings from the front with the key as well, and you can also adjust the speed of the pendulum weight.
