Speckled Swan Gourd or Amish Goose gourdYOU ARE BIDDING ON 30 seeds from the Goose Gourd or Speckled Swan Gourd. They have not been sprayed or chemically treated but were naturally grown. Cucurbita pepo. 120 days. They are shaped like a swan or a goose with a large bulbous base and a smaller bulbous head. The neck is generally somewhat curved unless grown on a trellis where they can hang. If hanging they will grow straight. They are a medium green color gourd with white speckles. They are very pretty when fresh off the vine for fall decorating. Fairly prolific and easy to grow. Grow on a trellis for straight necks. Easy to dry for crafts, birdhouses or use as fall decoration. They dry to a brownish beige color and do not retain the green speckled appearance. You see my Mom in the photo sealing some cured or dried gourds. The flowers are a pretty white bloom and the vine is a vigorous climber. The vines will climb 10-20 feet covering a trellis in no time flat. Here they climb and cover a 20'X20' wire covered chicken run giving the chickens needed shade during the summer months. You see my Mom in the photo feeding the chickens below the canopy of gourds, They also climb up trees but I don't recommend that because its hard to harvest them from the tree tops.
