So, no need to worry about receiving DOA sticks! When I first got them, I stress tested them using Prime95 (utilizes CPU and RAM to calculate very large prime numbers) under the setting "Blend", where there is "lots of RAM tested" according to the description of the software's test. On stock settings, the RAM was tested for a little over 24 hours (recommended test time to ensure stability) with no issues and there has never been an issue during the intervening time. I never overclocked the RAM because the sticks are plenty fast already!
