Navajo Indigo Rug/ Classic Fred Harvey Style Indigo Child's Blanket 36"x 48"NR - $695 - (Cortez, CO)

Navajo weaver Lorlena Atencio of Cove, Arizona wove this rug with a Late Classic Period design of a man’s wearing blanket / serape. It has an indigo field. Two teal and yellow stepped meanders separate the red diamonds from the indigo field. Small stepped indigo and teal triangles are couched within the diamonds. White crosses highlight the indigo field. Red lateral bars are in the indigo field. The rug's yarn is single-ply, mill spun, Navajo Churro Sheep wool. Our company hand dyed these colors: the aniline red, teal & yellow; and the natural dye – the indigo blue. The weft selvages (along both edges) are 2 3-ply teal and yellow cords. The warp selvages (along both ends) are 2 x 3-ply red cords. The warp is highest quality, 2-ply, mill spun, Churro Navajo Sheep wool. The woven density is 9 warps per inch and 26 wefts per inch. The 3 outdoor photos show most accurate colors. The indoor photo of Lorlena holding her rug shows the teal as too blue. This is one of our company's "Cortez Collection" of Navajo rugs. We will provide the buyer with a signed / dated, detailed description; photos of the weaver; and a retail appraisal. Please contact us within 3 days of auction's close. Pay w Paypal.
