This pair of very rare pair of hand carved puppets from what is now the Czech Republic from the late 1880's to the turn of the century. It has been many years since a pair of these puppets have been offered for sale. The owner had to go to a puppet museum in Czechoslovakia to determine their authenticity. It is presumed that the star on the cap of the soldier / policeman was added after World War 2 when the Communists took over. They feature a center spindle and the costumes are hand made. The clown features no nail holes so it is presumed he never had a hat. Truly unique and rare
