Presented here is a exquisite finely handwoven tapestry of silk and wool content. This very fine woven aubusson weave was done in the town of Aubusson around 1860. These were woven from a cartoon a painting the weaver followed as he hand wove this bucolic scene. This subject matter looks identical to Francois Boucher painting "The Musette" dated 1753.This typical amorous s scene was coveted in fashion. This finely made tapestry was restored with some repair and possible recolorization. The pillow has just enough fade to give the colors the ambiance of the 18th century.
