RARE 1928 Weller Art Pottery PATRA Vase 8.25" Matt Artist Signed Arts and Craft - $169 - (Brenham, TX)

Samuel Weller in 1872 founded Weller Pottery in Fultonham, Ohio. Plenty of high quality clay for pottery production was available in the area. The company moved its operation to Zanesville, Ohio in 1889 and eventually added decorative art pottery lines to its inventory to compete with other potters. The Patra vase pictured is fully marked to the bottom with 'Weller Pottery', a mark used in 1928. It also has 15. and "F". I believe the "F" is the artist's mark. The lines are classic Arts and Craft and the finish is a beautiful 'alligator skin' exterior, with a solid green interior. ~~Hand decorated~~ No chips, cracks or repairs.
