THE PAINTING We are very pleased to present this ORIGINAL STUDY of a CAT, entitled: "Sam" Andy Warhol made numerous studies of Sam the Cat for a book for which he created all of the illustrations. It is a combination of PAINTING & DRAWING together; it is a UNIQUE ORIGINAL WORK. It is executed by-hand in BLACK INDIA INK and BROWN WATERCOLOR PAINT on a light-tan/cream paper, blank on the verso apart from some "bleed-through" of the ink and paint from the picture-side (see our very last photo showing the verso). This is a UNIQUE, ORIGINAL hand-drawn and painted work, NOT a print, litho, or any other form of printed reproduction, we can definitely assure you of this. The sheet-size measures 11 1/2" x 8 5/8" (29 cm x 22 cm). It is currently unframed. INK-SIGNED: Andy Warhol, in the lower-left. Undated, circa 1950s. It is inscribed "Sam" in the lower-right (the cat's name).
