Antique Advertising Reverse Painted Liberty, Flag, Eglomise Trade Sign form the National Fire Insurance Co.Hartford, Connecticut, Circa 1876-1900Reverse painted displaying Liberty holding shield showing a stag and polychrome flag with spread-winged eagle. The oak frame with gilt liner is original. (Wear to varnish on frame, losses to gilt gesso on frame.) Eglomise is near mint. Frame: 35 by 27”, sight-size: 28" by 19.5” You can see a halo effect around the flag. The original artist put streaks of black through the flag to make it appear the flag is moving or waving. Totally original condition. The lettering, lady liberty, eagle are MINT. You will not find a nicer reverse painted sign with this much age or in this large size!!! Shipping USA only.
