The Andy Griffith Show: VINTAGE Bluebird Diner Tin Metal Sign Goober Pyle - $700 - (Lexington, NC)
Up for sale here is a VINTAGE tin metal sign from the Bluebird Diner in Mayberry, North Carolina, featuring an image of Goober Pyle (George Lindsey). The bottom half of the board is chalk board to write the daily specials on. Please note that this is a VINTAGE sign, and as such has a few rust spots and wear as it should. I purchased this from a dealer who specialized in vintage signs...in other words, not someone who is an expert "Andy Griffith Show" collector. This means that I don't know much about the origin of the sign. I do know that there was a restaurant named the Bluebird Diner located in Andy's hometown of Mt. Airy, NC, which I ate at several times during visits there. It has since closed down due to the owner taking ill and unable to maintain it. I'm not sure whether the sign is affiliated with the show, the actual restaurant which was the inspiration for the one in the show, or just an item that a fan had custom made many years ago. Based on its appearance, the only information I can give you is that it is old and appears to be vintage.
