1950 FRANKLIN HALF DOLLAR NGC 50C PF64+ PR64+ UCAM ULTRA DEEP CAMEO, POP (1/17)! - $8,006 - (Dayton, OH)
For sale is a 1950 Franklin Half Graded PF64+ UCAM by NGC. A rare Ultra Cameo example of the debut Franklin half dollar proof. This is a coin that is almost essential for a high-ranking Registry Set, as there are only 14 dates in the proof series, and high-grade Ultra/Deep Cameos are universally the most difficult examples to acquire. In fact, the 1950 is the rarest proof Franklin in Ultra/Deep Cameo in series, with the sole exception of the 1956 Type One, which is not required for a standard date set. Across all grades, NGC and PCGS combined have seen only 31 Ultra/Deep Cameo 1950 proofs. A Plus-graded Choice representative of the first proof Franklin half dollar issue, this coin exhibits sharply detailed frosty design elements that create intense cameo contrast with the deeply mirrored fields. The well-preserved, mostly brilliant surfaces show a few subtle hints of pale gold toning and eye appeal is terrific. The current NGC Price Guide for a plain PF64 UCAM is $9.250 and NGC does not post a price for PF64+ UCAM. The next jump up to PF65 UCAM goes to $29,000.
