This flute was made by Emil Rittershausen around 1903-05. I have had this instrument assessed and restored by a reputable historical woodwind repairman in San Francisco. It is in excellent playing condition with easy key action and sealing pads. The head joint is metal lined. It had a crack in the exterior wood when I purchased it, but the crack has been sealed and smoothed out. The imprint inside the case says "Emil Rittershausen - Berlin S.W. - First prize, Chicago 1893" (World's Fair). The flute comes in its original case. This instrument provides a wooden-flute sound with the advantage of "modern" Boehm-system keywork, as well as being a collector's item. ###
