1986 game-worn, game-used Ben Oglivie Milwaukee Brewers road grey jersey by Sand-Knit, size 46, with proper team tagging and striptags. Shows heavy game use and wash & wear with some staining, puckering of letters, and slight fading of knit neck and sleeve trim from multiple washings. All original jersey, lettering and numbers. The original stitching on the yellow layer of tackle twill was obliterated and hanging/falling off the jersey, so it was professionally re-sewn, beautifully. The stitching on the blue layer was generally in good shape and remains original. NOTE: only the yellow stitching was replaced; the numbers themselves are original and were not replaced. Jersey measures 22.5 inches pit-to-pit and tapers to about 19 inches at abdomen, which equates to Oglivie's normal size 42 measurements. Jersey lacks player's name on the name-swatch in-tail, likely because original jersey constructed for him during winter of 1985-86 did not fit properly, so this size 46 with his normal measurements was used as a replacement for Benji in 1986 without the name-swatch being completed. This one was also likely used in Spring Training of 1987 by a different player after Benji's retirement following 1986, thus the heavier usage. It looks pristine and never worn (and too small at size 40), which likely explains why a Brewer employee had it available to give away. Background on this jersey: To this seller's knowledge, this jersey entered the hobby three years ago by the noted (and reputable) memorabilia seller Zanebats, who also listed a 1986 Chris Bosio Brewers' road gamer at the same time. Both the Oglivie and Bosio had the same "yellow layer stitching" issue (thread deteriorating). This legitimizes that a weak thread was used in constructing the Brewer jerseys that year, which did not hold up to multiple launderings.
