RARE & UNUSUAL ANIMATED BIRD CARRIAGE CLOCK This special offering was made by the renowned maker Bolviller in Paris, France, c. 1885. It stands about 11" tall. The unique and special feature of this wonderful carriage clock is the colorful animated bird, in a floral landscape setting, that rotates from side to side, pecks the ground, and tweets. This type of clock was always made to the very highest standards as they were designed to be sold only to the ultra-rich, usually on special order commission. The high-quality movement is 8 days, time and bell-strike with hour repeater. The animation of the bird is by a separate clockwork movement housed in the base. You can see this exact clock in the reference book "Carriage and Other Travelling Clocks" by Derek Roberts, page 233. The original leather carrying case is included.
