1987 Cliff Sargent F5 style mandolin. Mr Sargent was a first generation Bluegrasser and incredible craftsman who filled an existing void in the 70 and 80's by building a professional quality mandolin based upon the highly regarded Gibson Lloyd Loar era F5 mandolin. This mandolin was restored around 2004-2005. The story of its restoration is available in a thread online at Mandolin Cafe and offers great insight to this mandolin and its builder. This mandolin has " The Gibson" Fern inlay on the headstock as was commonly done in this period as a tribute to Gibson, not deception. Cliff Sargent's signature on the inside of the top.
