There is a difference between a sealed and a vented box. Here it is: A sealed box gives quality sound (better for hard or classic rock, country ect.) A vented box gives more bass but the quality of sound is not the as good as you would get with a sealed box. To match your woofer with this box please line up these three things: Cu Ft Air space. Be within 10% over or under to be a match. Cut out diameter Mounting depth. Please note if you have the "mac daddy" woofer from your woofer line the manufacture may be suggesting that you mount it to a 1" mdf face. This box is constructed with premium ¾” particle board. It is a sealed style of box for quality sound.
