This is a MAGNIFICENT pre war Heckel bassoon. This extraordinary instrument is a short-bore instrument from the very best serial number range for Heckels and is superb. It shows some wear but nowhere near the wear that most of the Heckels from this period show. This bassoon is in original condition and has not been updated with additional keys, but it has been through our shop and is ready to play. There are two professionally repaired cracks in the bell. There is a possible repaired crack in the boot joint but if so it would have been a surface check as I see no evidence of cracking through the tone holes. I see no signs of rot and the bore looks good. Serial number is 7910. Instrument is stamped Heckel Biebrich on each joint.
