Ampeg B-18N Portaflex Vintage 1966 Fliptop Tube Bass Amplifier Serviced - $1,850 - (Fairborn, OH)
This is a vintage Ampeg B-18N Portaflex designed by the late, great Jess Oliver in excellent operating condition. It is as original as it can be besides the necessary maintenance required for an amplifier of it's age. This amplifier was a church find after being used as a PA for almost five decades. Since then it has been lovingly cleaned up physically and electronically so that it can be enjoyed for what it is-a top tier American made bass amplifier like none other ever made. That said, it's time to find this beauty a new home where it can be enjoyed for what it is. This amplifier was retubed with the exception of the 7199 which tested as very good, the filter and bias capacitors were replaced with a Fliptops 600V upgrade kit, and a three prong grounded cable was added to bring it up to prime operating condition. The service was completed during 2016. The full list can be found below. This particular Portaflex is in good cosmetic condition with the exception of a large section of tolex missing from the back of the cabinet. The speaker is a rare original Cleveland AlNiCo and the original dolly is also present. Please see the photos above for reference. Replacement tolex can be sourced but is difficult to find.
