Antique Rare Punched Sand Painted New York City Bakery Sign Shipping Available - $24,300 - (Campbelltown, PA)

A rare tin 2 sided sign advertising a New York Bakery Lunch restaurant. The restaurant was in New York City and was only open for one year in the 1920's.. The owner moved to Florida and took the sign with them. A collector purchased the sign from the family in 1987, we acquired the sign from the collector. This is a rare one of a kind sign. It is a tin can sign that is double punched and sand painted. Each letter is outlined in paint and then a small hole pattern outlines each letter. The center of each letter is then punched with a larger hole, the center is convex and bent in to reflect the light from an array of light bulbs inside. The blue paint background is sand painted which was done mostly in the early 1900's to reflect light better. These two features in combination are quite rare as is the double punch pattern. The sign was manufactured by: The McSavaney Co. of Springfield Ohio as indicated by the painted logo on the sign. The sign is in amazing condition with some wear and surface rust spots, please see photos. It is 72" wide x 42" high and 5 1/2" deep. The original iron hanger arms adds 4" to the height. We can safely ship this sign both Nationally and Internationally, please ask for a quotation.
