1878 "Map of the Shoshone Geyser Basin west end of Shoshone Lake Yellowstone National Park, ... U. S. Geological Survey of the Territories, F. V. Hayden, ... 1878" Map is from the "Twelfth Annual Report of the United States Geological and Geographical Survey of the Territories: A Report of the progress of the Exploration in Wyoming and Idaho for the Year 1878 ... by F. V. Hayden" with the whole report printed and released by the government printing office in 1883. Great detail because of scale of the area with many features of the park are shown and named. The map is about 24 by 34.5 inches. The detailed topographical folding map was made on very thin paper and this one is in fair condition after its 130 years. This map has archival tape repairs to the reverse at a few of four corner fold points with pin holes at many of the four corner fold points. Some browning to the front of the map around the edges and along the fold lines and browning from the archival tape repairs made a long time ago. A little paper loss at some of the four corner fold points. The paper is very fragile along the fold lines. Some slight miss folds. See all photos.
