Vintage Chinese handknotted rug w dragon motif 5.5' x 8.5' - $925 - (San Antonio, TX)
This is a very nice vintage Chinese hand-knotted wool rug measuring 5.5' x 8.5'. The pile is excellent and the rug was professionally washed this month (Feb. 2017.) There are a couple of flaws. -- This flaw is shown in picture #4. The previous owner cut two small holes to access a floor plug (I can't imagine anyone doing that!). These small holes are between the whiskers/feelers of the dragon and seen in picture #4. -- There is also some damage to the fringes on one end. This can be seen in picture #6. -- In a corner of the rug, shown in picture #7, there are a few white knots plus two tiny bits of what appear to be dried glue. The rug shop did not try to remove these two tiny bits when they washed the rug because they felt removal might damage the pile. The tiny hard bits look like knots, so are not really noticeable. This rug is much prettier and far more dramatic than the pictures show. The colors are wonderful. Please ask any and all questions before bidding.
