LONG ISLAND 1936 50C Silver Commemorative PCGS MS67+ (CAC) The conjoined portraits of a Dutch settler and an Algonquin Native American symbolize the earliest days of Dutch exploration, colonization, and mutual cooperation between the two civilizations, 300 years before the mintage of the commemorative half dollars. The present example is certainly one of the most attractive we've seen, with a colorful melange of crimson, emerald and amber toning the obverse in the characteristic tab toning and the entire reverse. A finer coin technically and aesthetically may be impossible to ever find, as this coin resides at the top of the population report. One of only 6 so graded by PCGS, none finer. CAC certified.
