Huge Victorian Banquet Lamp with Basket-weave Leaded Glass Shade - 1880'sThis massive Victorian banquet lamp is 100% original and one of the most incredible lamps I've seen. We recovered the lamp from a local estate and it was totally covered in dust and cobwebs. The original patina was still perfect underneath and the finish was found to be untouched and beautiful after decades in storage. It has a nice bronze/brass body and two applied lion head handles. The spill ring is highly detailed with six medallions depicting winged Victorian women. The base is fancily reticulated. The leaded glass shade has all of the original amber glass strung beads with just few strands missing. They are somewhat fragile but stable. The leaded work in the shade is in a basket-weave pattern, carmel and green slag with a carmel and green glass crown. The original embossed fount and flame-spreader are also present. The fount has been tested and will hold oil, so this lamp can be burned if so desired. Alternatively, the lamp can be professionally rewired for electric usage without harming any of the original components. This is a rare find! DIMENSIONS: Nearly 3' tall with chimney (33" tall without chimney). 12" from foot to foot diagonal x 11" from base handle to handle. Shade measures 14" diameter x 9" tall excluding amber fringe.
