Excellent and rare Moseley Milling tool for ww lathes. Has a cutter attached. This is a fantastic antique horology tool with essentially all nickel plating. This tool was always stored very well and remains in amazing condition. This milling attachment came out of a famous eastern lathe tool collection along with others listed. It is unmarked but the identical tool is labeled and pictured on page 308 of Crom's Book Horological Shop Tools 1700-1900. It is "style 3". the base is an accessory and removable. a fantastic tool and will be sorry to see this one go - and if doesn't, that's ok too.. I would be hard pressed to see another - a great little rare tool. I feel no play in the bearings. The description in the book is as follows: "Has one spindle. the style generally used by the watch repairer. when desired are made to tip over to any angle for cutting worm wheels etc. Spindles are vertical and driven by quarter twist belt from counter shaft; are all fitted for Swiss and American cutter and make complete Rounding Up tools. Index plates furnished to go on draw-in spindle of lathe from 3 to 360 divisions or notches on the edge with latch to suit attached to bed. as with sufficient force the latch will turn one notch at a time. the operator can space off his work without removing the eyes from the cutter. cutters of all kinds furnished when desired."
