Victorian Reclining Armchair 19th Century - $2,400 - (Ithaca, NY)

This is a very rare 19th century reclining chair. Most examples of antique recliners are Morris recliners. The chair was restored "in the old tradition" in 1981 according to the plaque under the footboard. The footboard swings out from under the leg cushion. The wood seems to be either mahogany or walnut. It has collected abrasions over time, but is overall in good condition. The fabric is in excellent condition. The bronze reclining mechanism functions properly, and the cross bar underneath one of the arms had split and was repaired. This seems to have been done around the same time as the chair was made as the repair was made with hardware that matches the other original hardware. 3 of the 4 casters are bronze originals, and the back left caster was replaced at some point, likely during the 1981 restoration. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Local pick up only. I am not willing to ship the chair unless the buyer arranges for shipping. Please refer to the pictures for a more accurate description of the item's condition.
