SET OF SIX 1941 VINTAGE MINTON RIBBONS & BLOSSOM 9" PLATES - $55 - (Spicewood, TX)
This is such a pretty pattern and these plates are in extremely good condition for their vintage. Four have minimal wear to the inner gilded ring and one has a chip on the base. There are very faint utensil marks but otherwise no cracks, cracklings in the glaze, chips or restorations. They all have the "there are no cracks" ping. They are impressed with the 1941 year cypher - an aeroplane that is probably the silhouette of a spitfire - the letter F, which denotes the month of February and what looks like an O, which is probably the potter's mark. Some marks are clearer than others. Four have a painted S 398 with B beneath and two have painted S 398 with D beneath. I don't know what this signifies. Pattern? Painter?
