The base has been refurbished and an old drafting table top added. It is 37 inches high when the table is in the lowest position. The table top can be cranked upwards with the removable handle on the side. The top is nominally 44 by 62 inches. Medart is a company in Ellwood City PA that made athletic and medical equipment. They are still in business. This pommel probably dates from about 1910 to 1920. The base was blasted, smoothed and repainted. It did have wheels underneath that were lowered with the two levers, however they have been disabled. There are internal gears that raises the top with the hand crank. The pine top is from an old drafting table, the version which had a sheet metal bottom. It did have steel guides and recesses on the ends which were cut off. I elected to sand the top because of stains, marks and missing finish. It is still currently being refinished with oil which takes time to soak and dry out so you see some mottling in the pictures. So far it has had about 10 applications. Two recycled pine boards from an old cupboard were added underneath for stiffening and mounting. One edge of the top still has an aluminum insert. Still working on the top. The pommel top and two hand rings are included if you want to convert this back into a pommel horse. The top was refinished some years ago in vinyl and would need to be redone. This is also available on other sites. Please contact me if interested for more info.
