Erard 1876 Antique Concert Grand Piano Brazilian Rosewood, historically restored - $18,875 - (Ypsilanti, MI)
Victorian-era 1876 Erard concert grand piano (8’4”), 85-keys, built in London, that has been restored to perfect playing condition. Sebastien Erard was one of the 19th century's foremost piano makers; he had shops in both Paris and London, and produced several important patents such as the famous double escapement action that facilitated repeated notes. Many famous composers and performers owned Erard pianos, such as Beethoven, Chopin, Faure, Liszt, and Ravel. This beautiful antique -- built in 1876 in London of Brazilian rosewood, maple veneered keywell, keyboard compass AAA - a'''', 85 notes -- has been professionally restored by Marinus van Prattenburg in the 1990’s, including new correctly-sized, English custom-made hammer heads, original dampers steam-cleaned, new stringing and refinishing. Original straight-stringing provides a pure, clear tone, and its original ivory keys are in perfect condition. Very stable in tuning and dependable, even action. Beautiful tone that recaptures the atmosphere of a more relaxed era. A true treasure for now and future generations. Recording available upon request, or serious buyers may come play and be entranced. Buyer must arrange and pay for shipping, though seller will assist with local contacts, if desired.
