A RARE 19TH CENTURY MURANO AQUARIUM OIL LAMP IT MEASURES 14 INCHES TO THE TOP IT'S BASE IS 8" WIDE BY 4" THE BODY IS 6" WIDE X 2 3/4" DEEP IT WAS CONVERTED TO ELECTRIC IN THE 1930s THE PHOTOS OF THE BASE SHOULD VERIFY THAT IT'S MOUNTED ON A HAND MADE BASE DESIGNED TO ILLUMINATE THE AQUARIUM AS A NIGHT LIGHT THE TOP ORIGINALLY HELD AN OIL TANK FOR THE LAMP IT HAS BEEN CAPPED WITH STANDARD LAMP HARDWARE YOU CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 1950s AQUARIUMS IT'S SEEN BY THE GREEN TINGE TO THE GLASS USED AT THAT TIME MEANING 19TH CENTURY THIS IS MOSTLY APPARENT WITH THE LIGHT SHINING THROUGH THE GLASS AS PHOTOGRAPHED ALSO PLEASE NOTE THE WEAR ON THE BOTTOM OF THE GLASS BASE IF THIS WAS A FACTORY MOUNTED LAMP IT WOULDN'T HAVE ANY WEAR IT WOULD BE POLISHED LET ALONE DECADES OF WEAR AND SCRATCHES ON IT ALL CAUSED BY CONSTANT HANDLING AND MOVING ON A TABLE FOR A LONG TIME, IT'S NATURAL WEAR THE SHADE IS A CRACKED DURAND SHADE IT'S INCLUDED THE AQUARIUM IS PERFECT WITH NO CHIPS OR REPAIR AGAIN IT'S AN ANTIQUE EVEN OF THE 1950s STYLE LAMPS SHIPPING IN THE LOWER 48 IS $100.
