Offered for sale, a very nice miniature carriage clock with Cariatides style silvered case, signed Cles. Oudin 52 Palais Royal Paris. The case is beautifully cast, and with exquisite, sharp detail. The decoration features caryatid corners, with masks, and very detailed foliate ornament. The case front has a bevelled, convex glass, and silvered Roman numeral dial, with blued steel hands. The top has a bevelled rectangular glass, allowing a view of the oscillating balance. The top also has a folding handle. The movement is an 8 day timepiece, with lever escapement platform. The case is signed on the bottom. The case measures 2 3/4" high (not including the handle), 1 3/4" wide, and 1 5/8 deep - a true miniature, smaller than the Mignonette #1.Condition: The clock retains much of its original surface, with some wear. The handle is an old replacement. The hands may be replaced. The movement runs well, but is gaining about 5 minutes per day - service by a competent watchmaker is recommended.
