Kiyoshi Saito woodblock Prints (4) different prints total - $5,000 - (Lorton, VA)
I'm selling 4 different prints from 1951 by famous artist Kiyoshi Saito all together. All of them are prints of children. Used to belong to my 97 year old grandmother before she passed away 15 years ago. It's been in my home since but I hope it will go to a new home who appreciate these kinds of art work. The frames are in okay condition due to aging but frames can be replaced as new. It's what's inside that counts. I took a picture of the back on one of them and it has another stamp and his name written on it. All of them may or may not have that. A very famous Japanese artist who has his own museum in Japan in honor of his work. As you see in the pictures I uploaded, first 3 prints are over 26 x 21 inches. The last one is 20 x 15 inches. Please see my feedback and buy with confidence. Thank you very much for looking. Kiyoshi Saito (?? ?, Saito Kiyoshi?, April 27, 1907 – November 14, 1997, born in Aizubange, Fukushima), was a sosaku-hanga artist in 20th-century Japan. In 1938, he issued his first prints in his now famous "Winter in Aizu" series. Saito was one of the first Japanese printmaking artists to have won at the São Paulo Biennale in 1951. Saito's early works depict villages populated with local Japanese with a high degree of realism and three-dimensionality. His more mature works merge modern elements with Japanese tradition. His prints feature architecture and plant life flattened in two-dimensionality. He spent time in Paris, and did a series there.
