On Display 35 Years! * Wyandotte Pressed Steel Airplane TIN 1930s * Provenance - $465 - (Oakmont, PA)
*** AN EXCEPTIONAL CLASSIC BY AMERICA'S PREMIER MAKER OF PRESSED STEEL TOYS. IT IS ONE OF FOUR UNUSED PLANES LISTED BOTH TOGETHER AND INDIVIDUALLY. PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THE SQUADRON OF FOUR MAY SELL TOGETHER *** This outstanding plane is part of a squadron obtained back in the 1970's, from a stash of unused toys from the estate of a tailor in Etna, Pennsylvania, upriver of Pittsburgh. Each year near Christmas, he would take them from storage in his basement and display them in his shop windows. The airplanes were hung from the ceiling with fishing line. With the Holidays over, they were rewrapped and put back in storage. He treated the neighborhood with his toy display for more than 40 years. NEAT!!! HOW IS THAT FOR SMALL TOWN AMERICANA PROVENANCE? AN EXCEPTIONAL AIRPLANE! Wyandotte sold these airplanes in four or five color combinations. Fewer were sold in the green and orange color combination. It has an 18 inch wingspan. There is a mark here and there but that comes from handling over the past 80 years by its 2 owners. This is a very fine example of the pressed steel toys from back in the day.
