RARE PRIMITIVEWood Log Mortar & Pestle ARTIFACT MUSEUM QUALITYThis unique item is up for auction.1 Large Wood Log Mortar and Pestle.Used for centuries by the Indians whotaught the early Colonial Americans to use it.I have researched this for years and have found 3.One is at George Washington's home in Mt. Vernon, VAOne is at Jamestown Indian Village Museum, VAAnother is at the Chucalissa Indian Village, TNYou can only buy a poster of them!!! This is the real thing!I have also included 2 photos of postcards of a similar itemand a picture of the poster you can purchase online.The Mortar is 21" tall and is 10" across bottom, 9" top.the Pestle is 21" long.Beautiful Precious Museum Quality Artifact,but, I am not an expert.These were used to crush herbs, spices, seeds and grains.Used for cooking and medicinal uses. I have lived in Old Indian Territory for 35 years.I got this at an auction over 30 years ago in Osage County.I live in Cherokee Nation, Washington County, Oklahoma.There were established tribes here and this was theend of the Trail of Tears. I do not know the origin of this item,where it exactly came from or who made it. All the information I have found is pictures of them in museums.This is one of my favorite items from my collection.It is very old and very well used.
