This doll was made to help Polish refugees during WW1The Polish Relief Fund was created to assist these refuges and raise money for them and the needs of others in Poland by Switzerland. The doll was hand made in Paris, sold and proceeds helped these people survive.Approximately 10,000 dolls were sold, making this a rarer item them most.Papderewski became a spokesman for the organization . The dolls were typically Halka and Jan.This doll has her medallion. Everything is original to her, it seems her hat may be missing. The dress made out of silk does have some wear, some shredding in places. Otherwise she is in great condition for a doll from 1915. She is 11" tall. I did a close up of what is written on the medal.Thank you for looking.
