Antique Gibbs Wood Lithograph Horse US Mail Postal Vehicle (Early 1900s) This is an antique Gibbs Horse Trotter with Tin Postal Vehicle Toy. The trotters were made starting in 1908. The Gibbs Manufacturing Co. of Canton, OH, originally was making plows and farm machinery. In 1896, the company added toys, specializing in lithographed paper-on-wood, metal, wagons, spinning tops and advertising toys. The company's first toy was a political spinning top given away in William McKinley's presidential campaign. The toy articulates pretty well, trotting as the toy is pulled and the wheels turn. It is in good condition for age. The litho on the left side of the horse is good with some loss around the edges and especially the tail. The right side of the horse has significant litho loss. The U.S. Labels look good. The Mail cab is in good shape with a bit of denting in various places including roof. The overall size is 12 inches long and 7 nches tall.
