Antique Original 19th Century Pen Ink Drawing Onion Skin Dickens Characters - $149 - (Lansing, MI)
You are bidding on a beautiful pen and ink sketch/drawing by an unknown artist from the 1800s. This particular sketch is a one of a kind original of Sam Weller and Mr. Pickwick of "Pickwick Papers" standing over a cast of Charles Dickens characters. Little is known about this sketch other than I obtained it from the estate of Thomas A. Edison's niece in Colorado Springs in 2014. There is a note on the back side of the drawing which sheds some information on the print although the artist remains unknown. Apparently in 1992 it was reframed on acid free backing. The drawing appears to be done in black ink on onion skin paper. If you look closely at the photos you can see see a couple of small holes in the fragile onion skin paper and some very minor wrinkling of the paper. It is an absolutely gorgeous find. If it doesn't sell I am very content to keep it. The framed dimensions of the the sketch are approximately 12x19 inches. This one of a kind find, would be a wonderful gift for a lover of 19th century drawings or an aficienado of Charles Dickens.
