Incredible Pierced silver case. Langenbucher, CasparGerman watchmakerCaspar Langenbucher lived in the second half of the 17th century in Augsburg and was one of the most skilled watchmakers of his time. His masterpiece, a splendid clock in the form of a monstrance, which he was selling for 480 florins, is in the possession of the ducal museum at Braunschweig. Treffler, the son of an Augsburg Drechsler, was between 1656 and 1664 watchmaker of the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Ferdinando II. De Medici, in Florence, where he had built for Galileo and his pupil Vincenzo Viviani instruments before 1665 again returned to Augsburg. (1902) Look at last picture to show provenance.
