1966 paycheck for FRANCIS COPPOLA, the legendary writer/director/producer of THE GODFATHER films and APOCALYPSE NOW. Seven Arts pays Coppola $350.00 on October 28, 1966. Endorsed by Coppola on back. 3.25 x 8.25 inches. Two folds. Coppola had just finished making YOU'RE A BIG BOY NOW for Seven Arts. While he had made DEMENTIA 13 for Roger Corman three years earlier, YOU'RE A BIG BOY NOW allowed Coppola to display a unique directorial sensibility. It would be the only American entry at the 1967 Cannes Film Festival. When director Mike Nichols saw it, he was worried that the fresh themes and sensibility of the film would pre-empt THE GRADUATE. The film would lift Coppola into the Hollywood mainstream. The rest is history.
