Typically made of aluminum, brass, or copper, although they were made of more precious metals as well. From a period in time when sweeping crumbs from the dining room table warranted a special decorative implement. It has a small signs of wearing, but nothing has been damaged. This Silent Butler was made in Japan. Made of heavy thick brass with a wooden handle. It measures - 4" long and 3" wide, the lid is 4,5" long and 3,5 wide, the handle is 3"3/4 long. On the lid there is an engraved mark " MAJOR AB ADVERSIS". The "Silent butler" was made in Japan for "F.B. Rogers" company (it is engraved on the reverse side). There is a sticker on reverse side as well "Tarnish-resistant. Clean with soft damp cloth. No silver polish. Japan".
