Black Americana: Boy Eating Watermelon Sterling Figural Souv Spoon - New Orleans BLACK AMERICANA: BOY EATING WATERMELON STERLING FIGURAL SOUVENIR SPOON - NEW ORLEANS Offered is a rare sterling souvenir spoon featuring a young black boy eating a slice of watermelon. Sterling spoons with Afro-American items are very uncommon, and a full figural spoon in that category is rare indeed. The detail is amazing. Note the clothing, both front and back, and the straw hat the boy is wearing. The length of the spoon is 5.5 inches and in the bowl of the spoon is "New Orleans". On the back of the handle is the word "sterling" and the maker's mark for Watson & Newell. The spoon is very heavy at 1.3 ounces on an accurate postal scale. The spoon is in outstanding condition.
