Vintage 1931 Gibson L-0 - $5,200 - (Atlanta, GA)

Vintage 1931 Gibson L-0 Factory Order Number 188. This well preserved 1931 Gibson L-0 has thin original finishes and great playability. The guitar weighs a scant 3 pounds and has a sound to match. Strung with 10 - 47 strings, it has strong presence and depth but with a lighter touch and a lot of warmth. Very modern round neck profile with a nut width of 1 3/4". The fretboards from flat tops of this period are notoriously thin, as is this one, lending a very compact feel to the neck. Beautiful Brazilian Rosewood fretboard with bar frets that are in impressive shape. 12 frets to the body. There are the usual nicks. dings, scratches, and scrapes associated with a guitar that's 85 years old. One repaired crack on the top lower treble bout as shown. A couple of dings on the back side upper and lower bout - also as shown. Two tight cracks on the back. Some scuffing and a chip in the wood around the bridge perimeter. Overall, though, this Golden Age Gibson is in very nice condition. A couple of the tuners string posts have been replaced over the years and perhaps a tuner button or two, also. One of the tuner shafts is bent. The instrument is set up for easy fingerstyle playing with a full height saddle and nice, low action. With older hard shell case that includes original brochure and Gibson catalog copy. Payment due within 3 days of auction end please. Shipping via FedEx Ground insured with delivery confirmation for full value of instrument.
