ANTIQUE c1900 LOT OF 3 CHROMOLITHOGRAPHS DOUBLE MATTED, BURL FRAMES, SIGNED MG - $295 - (Sparta, NJ)
First may I say that this item is very much outside my area of expertise. I purchased this set of three lovely framed chromolithographs (I believe that is what they are) or prints for a guest room at a upscale antique shop in Richmond, VA about 35 years ago. If memory serves me correctly that is what I was told they were. They are double matted and beautifully framed under glass in burl or burl-like frames; c.1900 was handwritten on the backing of each frame. I do not know if anything is written on the back of the artwork as they are so beautifully framed that it would be a shame to take them apart to see. The subjects of the artwork are utterly charming and have a definite refined quality about them, both in subject and material. They display beautifully with antique furniture; however, they would be a lovely accent with more contemporary styles as well. The artwork in the two horizontal frames measure 8" wide x 6" long; framed they measure 13-3/4" wide x 11-7/8" long. The artwork in the one vertical frame measures 6" wide 8" long and framed measures 11-7/8" wide x 13-3/4" long.
