Hadley Pottery Platter Original Studio Vintage 1956 Mary Alice Rooster Massive - $650 - (Freeport, ME)

I am so excited to offer this amazing pottery platter made by Mary Alice Hadley. Hadley was born in Terra Haute Indiana in 1911. She and her husband opened Hadley Pottery in 1944 in Louisville, Kentucky. Mary Alice passed away in 1965, but the company is still producing pottery based on her designs. This outstanding platter was made by Mary Hadley herself in her studio. It measures 14 inches by 20 3/8 inches and is quite heavy, weighing approximately 5 pounds. This platter is black with a colorful rooster in the center. It is signed on the back M.A. Hadley and dated 4-9-56. There are no chips, cracks or damage. There is some surface wear, the glossy veneer has peeled off in places on the black background. It is a gorgeous example of original work by an amazing artist.
