Bell System Antique Switchboard Telephone w/ Crank Dial Box - $99 - (Paradise, MT)
An estate sale item from Wildhorse Plains, Montana. Parents passed away to leave it with their children. This phone is the last of those used by them until about the 1950's. Made in USA by Bell Systems the General Electric Company. It's in pretty darn good condition and was working when they pulled it out except wouldn't connect anymore to a switchboard operator. This phone's number was 150 and by turning the handle it would connect to the operator who would than complete your call to whomever you wanted to talk to. Back than, there was party lines as well so if someone was gabby, you had to keep hanging up and calling back or tell them to get the h__ off the phone so you could make a quick phone call. I remember that with a circular dial phone in the 50's too. You had to be able to afford a private line or put up with a party line. This is an antique and it has it's share of scratches and streaked paint. The black phone has lots of oxidation and totally imperfect so is offered "as is".
